Meet the Team
Beau & Lacquer opened in 2016 with a small but perfectly formed hairdressing team of just three. The salon has grown to six staff members, with client care and providing a professional salon experience as priorities. They are an approved L'Oreal salon with owners Davina and Martine committed to team development.
Martine Cunningham
Co-Owner & Director
Martine has run Beau & Lacquer alongside her sister Davina for the past 10 years, fulfilling a dream the two of them shared from a young age. She first completed a Psychology degree before training at the Vidal Sassoon London Academy on their intensive eight-month course, where she instantly fell in love with the industry. Building rapport, understanding what suits each client, and helping people leave feeling confident sit at the heart of everything she does behind the chair. Outside the salon, Martine spends as much time as possible with her husband and two young boys, and you will often spot her out for a run.
Davina Bird
Co-Owner & Director
After working alongside her aunt at a busy Sydney salon, Davina trained at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London before returning to Guernsey to begin her career in earnest. She went on to launch Envy Hair Studio, and for the past nine years has run Beau & Lacquer in partnership with her sister, Martine. She is genuinely passionate about her craft and loves seeing clients leave the salon feeling their absolute best. Now settled into the new premises on Glategny Esplanade, she is excited about the next chapter for the salon and the team.
Chan Inder
Senior Stylist
Chan began her career as an apprentice with Davina, gaining her City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma at the Guernsey College of Further Education. Since qualifying, she has continued to develop her craft through L'Oréal's Colour Keys course and the ABC Cutting Course at Vidal Sassoon. With 15 years behind the chair, she takes real pride in getting to know each client and tailoring looks that suit their personality, lifestyle and sense of style. Outside the salon, Chan is a busy mum of two (plus the dog) and loves any excuse to be outdoors.
Kelsey Jackson
Junior Stylist
Kelsey began her apprenticeship at Beau & Lacquer and has now been part of the team for eight years. During that time she gained her NVQ Level 3 at the College of Further Education and trained at Vidal Sassoon, completing the ABC Cutting Course. She has a real passion for colour and loves creating looks that feel just right for each individual, with the best part of the job being the people themselves. When she is not in the salon, Kelsey enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Julie Le Maitre
Senior Stylist
Julie has been hairdressing for 29 years, beginning with a local apprenticeship before training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in London, the same path taken by Davina and Martine. She is a wonderfully versatile stylist with extensive experience across women's, men's and children's hair, and has a particular love for colour. Whether a client is ready for a change or simply wants to refresh their look, Julie enjoys guiding them to the perfect shade. Away from work, she spends her time with family and friends, running, walking the dog, and getting away on holiday.
Jessica Roberts
Junior Hair Stylist
Jess chose hairdressing for the creative atmosphere, the hands-on craft, and the chance to meet so many lovely new people along the way. Having recently qualified from college, she is excited to welcome clients into her chair and begin building her own following at the salon. While she enjoys all aspects of styling, cutting will always be her favourite. Outside the salon, you will usually find her baking or curled up with a good book.
